Error opening video files

Everytime I try to open a video, in avi format, I get the error

Program Not Found
Windows cannot find blank.exe.
This program is needed for opening files of type 'AVI File'.

I have no clue what's going on. I am very thankful for any advice anyone could give me to resolve this issue.

 

Try rightclick open with and choose windows media player.
If that doesnt work,
Download videoinspector to check if you have the codec.

 

I've discovered it only does it with divx. I have all the proper codecs. My windows player sucks. It constantly freezes and won't play video properly. I've been using zoom player for most. It's just an annoyance because it won't remember always open with divx. So everytime I want to view an avi I have to right click go to open with and choose divx. Damn stupid computer. It's actually probably a user error.
