error with AboutBuster

I downloaded AboutBuster from your website, installed it, tried to update it and I got an error message. Tried to run it and it wont work, I get the same error message.

 

Don't be shy, what is the error message, what is the operating system and have you tried reinstalling it?

 

Do you have a firewall? Hardware or software? Hardware being router?

 

Run-time error '5' Invalid procedure call or argument. I'm running winxp and yes I did try reinstalling it.

 

I've had exactly the same problem, also on XP. I had About:Buster for a long time, updated it regularly. Then, several days ago, I tried to update it, got "Runtime error '5':invalid procedure call or argument". After that it gave the same error message if I just tried to open it.

I tried to take this problem to the MalwareBytes forum, like it said to in the documentation: www.malwarebytes.biz/forums ,but the site was unavailable, I got a 404 error.

I tried re-downloading it, the authors site gave me a 404 error. Got it from a mirror, installed it, it opened just fine. But if I tried to update it, same story again.

I figured it was just that the update site is down.

 

I just thought I should add, I just tried running About:Buster, it ran with no problems. Just can't update.

I'd say the update site is down. Or the whole site is. The last time that site has been updated is

Which means little to known. If you have the latest version, I'd go ahead and run it.

It's mostly what we've already figured out,"Malwarebytes website is down and RubberDucky is in talks regarding that".

It also says that About:Buster 5.0 is the final version of the program. So it doesn't need to be updated anyway, which is good, because you can't.

 

If memory serves me correctly, the updates was only for the definition file. But, I've been known to be wrong!

 

I did the same thing, ran AboutBuster for Months trouble free, then tried to update it the last time, ran it one time, and then after that it Gave me the same error. I uninstalled the program,(Deleted in this case as I recall) and Replaced the program with the original program, and it ran fine.

Udated again, and it ran once and errored again. Deleted reinstalled it and won't update anymore. Runs fine as long as you don't update. Strange but true.

RubberDucky said, on the Subratam forum, that the program has a self-updater, starting with version 4.0. I took that to mean it would update itself without any action from the user. I hope I'm not misinterpreting, he didn't elaborate.

Obviously, it won't be self-updating unless and until he gets the site back up. Let's hope that's soon.
