Error

When I try and use the internet a error box pops up "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to acces the item. How do I solve this problem so I can use the internet again?

Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

What browser type and version are you using and if Internet Explorer, have you tried a different browser to see if this is still happening Opera or Firefox should do (these are just to test with and not a suggestion to change)?

If Internet Explorer then try it in its safe mode also (this is a no addons mode) and click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and Internet Explorer (no Add-ons) should be their, see if this works ok?

What it maybe is malware so have you scanned your PC with your antivirus (what software are you using) lately? did it find anything? even if yes or no run the below as written exactly.

Also, how do you connect to the internet? (dialup, dsl, cable, satellite, phone)
