.ocx files are usually ActiveX files or media codec files, and after a bit of research it seems that mswinsck.ocx is related to Visual Basic or Visual Studio somehow. There's a few thing you can try here; you can try to re-register the file mswinsck.ocx or you can try downloading a new one and installing it. Search your Windows system directory (usually C:\Windows\System32) for the file. If it's not there, then we know that is probably the cause of the error, so you'd download a new one to the system folder. If the file is there, then we know the problem is with the file itself; it may be corrupt or unregistered. To register the file:
Click Start; Click Run; type regsvr32.exe mswinsck.ocx and press Enter.
You can download the file from here http://www.afreeocx.com/ocx/info/mswinsck_ocx.html (I downloaded it and scanned it for viruses; it's clean)
And more help can be found here http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3224302&SiteID=1
    ... and here http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=MSWINSCK.OCX
Some people with the same problem have installed the Visual Basic 6.0 Service Pack 5 and that took care of it. Download it here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=BF9A24F9-B5C5-48F4-8EDD-CDF2D29A79D5
.... or from here ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/vbrun60.exe (this is a direct download link to the full VisualBasic Runtimes)
This should be anough to at least get you started, if not totally fix the issue. If you have continued trouble, please post, and we'll go from there.

A couple of things though: more info is needed. You didn't provide which Windows you have (I assumed XP from the desktop screenshot). What were you doing before this error came up? Did you install something? Uninstall something? Have you performed any malware scans (I don't really think this is a malware issue, but a scan may have removed a safe file as a false positive)?

I'm not sure what this means :confused When Windows restarts, you get a Windows Installer error message? Or a Windows Installer dialog box of some kind? You can't close it? What exactly is coming up on the screen? If you could post exactly what's going on, or a screen shot, or both, it would be really helpful.
