Errors driving me nuts! Memory access issue?

Microsoft support wasn't any help, so...

I keep getting error messages in Windows XP Prof. every 5-10 seconds with the title ''WMP54Gv4.exe -- Application Error"

The messages read as follows:

1) The instruction at "0x77f52b58" referenced memory at "0x000a0195". The memory could not be "read".

2) The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000027) occured in the application at location 0x77e948b0.

'WMP54Gv4.exe' is a linksys wireless process, but other than that, I can't seem to find any info about these errors.

I have installed SP1 -- there were compatability issues with SP2 so I had to uninstall it -- and XP Pro v.2002.

Any suggestions?

No. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-G desktop adaptor to connect to an open wireless network.

In addition, there are serious memory loss issues going on -- i.e. when I start the system I might be using, say, 15% of my physical memory. After any given length of time, my load is almost 90% !

Very often I can't start executable files -- they will just crash right away.

I tried re-installing the wireless drivers several time, but no go.

 

Also, one of my generic host processes -- can't figure out which one -- is using a ton of memory. I assume this is some kind of memory leak, yes?

 

Try disabling the startup items by going to MSCONFIG. Disable everything except the Antivirus and the once related to Linksys..

 

Also try reseating the memory sticks.
