    ESS Audio drivers
    http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/drivers.shtm

do you tho have the version of soundchip code eg. ES1988? Software like Everest should be able to help with this.

Not really found anything concrete for Trident Video cards as Tridents own downloads site is error 404!! but what Windows version do you wish these drivers for?

Well, I'm running win xp, which has been installed over win 98. And I think those are win 98 drivers. I'd like them to be for win xp.

I'm really aiming at better video/performance, for gameplay, videos, music, etc.

    (that I don't have to purchase) :)

    And the ESS is es198x.sys

If you need more info. I can give

XP drivers are available for your sound card from that link just further down from the first listings....

    ES1988 Allegro
    ES1989 Allegro

but they both list the same driver in the below one.

    ftp://ftp.esstech.com/pub/audio-modem/WDM/Allegro_ES1988/XP/ES1988_XP1167_Sign_571437.zip

or if your sound is Audio plus Modem combo device then this driver is the one listed,
    ftp://ftp.esstech.com/pub/audio-modem/WDM/Allegro.comm/XP/A1com_V92_XP1159h058_sign_547740.zip

Not found anything new on Trident tho as they pulled out of the GFX card business a while ago sadly.

Drivers may increase your performance a small % but overall new hardware will give the best increase.. but as we all know that costs money!

Those drivers above for audio are free from the actual maker in ESS.

The above quote of yours is where I was aiming my new hardware costs money line... if you want better performance then drivers only offer a small %, where as new and more upto date hardware offers much more performance.

I just cannot locate any Trident drivers sadly.
