Ethernet cable unplugged when its plugged in

    I recently installed windows 7 and all the drivers fo and gfx cards usior my mobng the cd's they came with, then i tried updating i noticed i wasnt tconnected to the internet via my usb cable, so i unplugged it and checked it, plugged it back in and noticed the light didnt come on when it usually does, uninstalled and reinstalled the ethernet drivers for my motherboard using the cd again, still no joy.

    any help would be greatly appreciated

    Welcome to the forum Stevo838.

    If your using a USB cable to connect to your Modem, you need the USB driver for the Modem installed on the computer. The ethernet driver only controlls the ethernet controller, not the USB devices.

    If you have an ethernet cable, use it instead of the USB, it's faster anyway.

    thats what i mean i use my ethernet cable and it didnt work, so i tried my usb wireless network card and it never worked either, sorted now tho, was something in bios when i cleared cmos before i was *forced* to reinstall windows in the first place ffs
