I'm looking for recent opinion on CA's eTrust suite. My ISP provides usage for free: Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus and Pest Patrol.

    1) Are these adequate?
    2) Are they resource hogs?
    3) Am I better off using the "free" suggestions from this forum?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

it's probably gonna be a matter of opinion. i have dsl, and that is what we used to have. i installed it on all my comps (and used it), 2 desktops, 2 laptops (at that time). as well, as the additional antispy s/w (ie - ad-aware, spybot s&d, spyware blaster, etc).

however, just recently they switched to symantec. i uninstalled ca (as i couldn't get anymore updates), and installed norton on 1 comp just to try it out, and it slowed down my comp bigtime. i wound up uninstalling norton, and going with products from here (ie - avast, zone alarm, etc). anyway, g/l - sos

fyi, i think if it's free, and you like it (not a big resource hog, and the interface is decent), then give it a try. but, that's my opinion. - sos
