How about IE to do Windows Update if this goes through in the EU?

EU are a bunch of idiots and I am ashamed to be a European in reading the rubbish they dream up... next we will be back on having straight bananas!!!!! (dont laugh its partly true in that they wanted the curve of a banana to be within a specific tollerence..... never inforced)

To be honest then if this is the case then Google being the predomenent search engine should bundle Live, Ask, Yahoo etc search engine options on its search page to give the user the choice! or all OEMs should install all Antivirus applications on a PC to allow the user the choice of what one to run over majority of PCs coming with Norton, the list could go on and on and on, but the EU has a cash cow in Microsoft.

I agree with you, a lot of rubbish by the EU.

Imagine that, more bloatware in Windows, especially the OEM's. As if there is not already enough of it, especially when purchasing an OEM. Where would the limit be? All trialware and in this case, "browser wars" could erupt in vying for the "privilege" to be bundled with Windows.

Believe that Microsoft has been the target of the EU previously. Seems that the EU is sometimes is a bit overbearing, to put it mildly.

PS: never mind about feeling ashamed about being part of the EU. Quite a few Brits here claim that England is not part of Europe but an island on its own. ;)

    Hi Oma

Indeed the EU is for me has not helped the member countries out at all, the old common market was ment to be an easy way for trade to be carried out via Euro countries, this has now ended up in a legal and political minefield of rules and regulations that many are unforcable or while law are ignored by many members.

Their are things afoot for some countries to want to pull out of the Euro currency, plus glad that UK didnt fully go EU, we still have our own £ and veto to many laws.

I totally agree with you in that MSFT have been singled out as a target becasue they likely dont want bad press so pay up, however many other areas and companies need looking at and I believe Google is one, it has search market sown up, now has Office tools, toolbars, graphic/photo apps, messenger/chat, search servers for business, browser etc all of which they can advertise via their popular search engine, thus not giving the user choice?!

My personal feeling and leaving my direct contact with MSFT out of this is a pure business one, in that if a company cannot produce a better product than that available by a market leader then its their fault and they should stop winging like spoilt children, the main moaners have been Google and Sun, both do not have OSes so should produce a better one than Windows! Microsoft should like any other company be allowed to add what they want to their product.. not like BMW have the option for you to pop a Ferrari engine in their 5 series is it.

I hope if MS do decide to incorporate FF they some serious changes to it.
for the last few days i have been having trouble with it (it does it's own thing).
Although without doubt it is a good browser it sometimes has a mind of it's own, mine downloaded updates a few days ago during the night and decided to shut down the PC and when i re-booted in the morning the PC would not behave at all and i have spent many frustrating hours looking for the problem by un-installing applications 1 by 1 to try and find the culprit (it was after many un-installs and re-boots that i found it was FF).

Back to the post, The EU are obsessed with making things difficult for business to work with them.
I think they believe that all the answers to all problems come from Strasbourg and Brussels but if the truth be known that is where the problems originate.

Absolutely right Augie, cannot have one manufacturer singled out and others not, which also means that all server software be it Linux, Windows or Sun need to have all browsers and applications cross installed.

EU Parliament must be short of cash for 2009 with this supposed "credit crunch" rolleyes it really needs to get its *** in gear and deal with illegal immigrants to the health of the community and stop messing with corporate businesses.

MS has always been the bad guy, i think it has to do with the success of Bill G.
Every body loves a guy who tries to be better than the big guy, but when Bill became the big guy jealousy set in and a lot of influential people resent him.
