event error 14

I keep getting a log full of the following ,can someone please advise what the problem is and how to correct it

System error id 14 source NV
Unknown error on CMDre 00000001 00000080 00000000 00000005 0000000b

 

Do you have nVidia graphics card? (NV) or maybe nVidia on your Mobo?

Try uninstalling your graphics with a tool for that purpose (gets all the files and registry settings) like driver cleaner pro. Just be aware that if you also have nVidia drivers on your motherboard (nVidia chipset) they might need removal and reinstallation as well. The NV error is too generic to be sure. It wouldn't hurt to get new drivers for both the motherboard and graphics (if they both have nVidia drivers) and use the driver removal tool to get all nVidia drivers and then reinstall.

 

Yes i do have Nvdia 8600GT x2 Graphic cards,i have just installed the new driver, and it extracts the old drivers first before reinstalling the new version.
my mobo is an Asus

 

I have the Nvdia driver 169.21 for 32 bit installed version 6-14-11-6921

i have just noticed that my processor is an Amd 2.20gb Athlon 64bitx2 Dual Core .
would the driver installed be okay ,as i notice that Nvdia do a 64bit version of this same driver

 

You only use 64bit drivers when you have a 64bit OS not a 64bit CPU. I don't like the fact that you said when you installed the new drivers it extracted the old ones. Thats got to be your problem. Never let a graphics installation do the uninstalling for you, always uninstall yourself and then use a special tool to remove the remainder or any traces left behind. Also do a registry cleaning with a tool for that purpose as well. Graphics drivers are notorious for causing problems when the old drivers are not removed properly and nVidia is notorious for not supplying a removal tools for you. Use Driver Cleaner Pro, its free, just be aware that nVidia makes mobo drivers too, and either watch what you remove or be prepared to reinstall more than your graphics. Tuneup Utilites has a great registry cleaner in it, but its not free, for freeware try "Wise Registry Cleaner" or "Eusing Free Registry Cleaner".

Thank you for this information ,i will correct my install, however i have noticed that the only time the Error is reported in the event viewer ,is ,if the computer is left for a while and it goes into hibernation and on reacting the screen the event viewer fills with the error 14,and this is the only time i get this error

 

This may be something best answered in the nvidia forums. It could have something to do with your cpu (there are special amd drivers for their dual core processors). I have recently read some nasty things about nvidia hiding problems and blaming them on other parts when they new good and well it was them. Ati is no better, when there are only two choices we all get screwed because there's nowhere to go.
