According to the Windows Event Log, I got 2 ID 6 errors in the past 24 hours.

Some processing performance features have been disabled due to a known firmware problem.
This has happened 104 times since June.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi

As firmware is mentioned in the Event Log and ID6 is or can be associated with Kernel Processor functions, what is your Motherboard make and version as a BIOS update "may" if the version release text covers that error, fix that issue, but as mentioned above maybe worth installing the latests chipset driver first.

    also some info,

What Windows version and Service Pack?
How new is this PC? wouldnt be June by any chance?

    It's an ASRock Conroe I333 667
It is Windows Vista Premium ervice Pack 1
Yes, the problems have been occuring since June!
Since then I have had loads of Blue Screen of Death's, all of which pointing to memory problems, but the memory seems to be fine

Can that message be linked to BSOD's?
