Event viewer quit working

    The Event Viewer quit functioning on my machine running Vista Ultimate; any ideas as to why and how to fix it. A window comes up that states:
    ‘Service Event Log was not found on computer.’

    I only have 'Windows Event Collector' but no event viewer.

    I wonder if I could repair Ultimate with my Home Premium disk?

    What would happen if I run a repair for my Vista Ultimate OS with my Vista Home Premium disk since I have an actual disk for Home Premium and only the recovery disk provided by H-P for Ultimate? Would I get the event viewer back?
