Everybody Loves ERUNT But Me

I like this forum. Glad I found you.

Everybody loves ERUNT but I have problems restoring a backup.

Lars wouldn't respond when I sent him an email asking him about the problem.

ERUNT is installed (Windows 7 64 bit SP1) and the backups it creates in the default file locations.

When I attempt to restore an ERUNT backup using ERDNT I get a blizzard of popups one after another telling me something is missing and do I want to restore it? The first says the current registry file is missing and should it restore it (with what if the file is missing). See the first two of the warnings in the attached doc. There are a lot of them if I start clicking yes.

Does anyone have any idea what's going?

Erunt was great for XP, but you would probably be better off using |MG| Tweaking.com - Registry Backup since your OS is Win 7.

As for "any idea what's going on?" Are you disabling UAC before using Erunt to create a registry back-up?

I haven't tried to restore an Erunt back up in Win 7, but I would think you would also need to disable UAC before executing the "ERDNT.EXE" application.

Yes I did disable UAC but the problem remained. Sounds like it could be a Win 7 issue or a 64 bit issue. Who knows?

I will try the program you suggested.

How would you compare it to ERUNT/ERDNT?

I looked at the ERUNT FAQ again. I did do a clean install a few months ago and I failed to realize the significance of the comment about clean Windows installation the first time I read it. Thank you for reminding me to look again at the FAQ.

I will attempt to relabel the system reserved partition, probably this weekend, and try ERUNT again.
