    Hi

Going round in circles here, all help hugely appreciated. Everything on my screen is massive (ie too low resolution) and I cant increase the res in settings. This happened after reloaded Win XP from disc. Have heard I need a new driver for the graphics but cant locate the type of card to get the driver. Graphics card doesnt appear in device manager or dxdiag. There must be a way to locate the graphics card type in the machine and therefore get a driver? Or ANY other way to get everything on the screen normal size appreciated, I dont run games or movies I just want my PC to work for surfing the net with everything fitting on the screen. Thanks in advance

I guess it depends if you are using a graphics card or onboard graphics. It is unclear from the Dell page. Check device manager and see if it shows the Intel driver under Display Adapters. If it does then try the ATI driver. If it doesn't show the Intel 845 chip in Device Manager go ahead and try that one. http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/optiplex-gx260

If no luck try SlimDrivers see if it finds the driver. It should at least find the intel one.

    Hi...

If you're still having problems, if you will post your Dell Service Tag we may be able to narrow down the driver search.

Theres nothing in device manager. When I tried the Dell chipset driver download I get an install page that says: When you select 'Install Now', you may be given the following four choices - Save, Open, Cancel,More info. You MUST select 'Open' for the installation to work.

-Unfortunately I only get the option to save. And that has no effect on anything that I can see, though a driver of some sort appears to be on my PC

Hi my friend , do you find the driver in your computer ? You have to search C:\Documents and Settings\name\My Documents\Downloads
for your driver , what is your service tag ? Maybe you can uninstall the generic graphic driver afterwards to install the right driver :wave

The fact that you only have one place to plug in a monitor, tells us you do not have a graphics card installed. If you did, there would be two places to plug in the monitor.
You are using a graphics chip that is on your motherboard.
This is the page with all the drivers http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/optiplex-gx260
I clicked on video to see the 6 choices.
The first one is Recommended, all the other are optional. So , yes, I would tell you to download this

Once everything is working, you want to collect all the drivers either on a USB stick, an external hard drive or a CD. That way, should you need to install windows again, you will have all the proper drivers archived.
