You can refer to my post here if more back ground is needed. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=291731
After removing xfinity "Constant Guard" with their removal tool and I have no internet connection. With the ethernet cable I show connected but on internet access and on wifi I have an "X" over the icon near the clock and when I look for a wifi connection I see none. I have win7/64 and all firewall and virus software is off or uninstalled and the laptop is malware/virus free.(Thanks to "chaslang") All browsers are setup for strait internet or no proxy. I have uninstalled the network hardware and deleted their drivers and placed them with latest download. I'm so tired of this laptop :/ Thanks for any help..

You need to download the drivers both wirless and NIC, for your computer but since you haven't mentioned the brand and model, I can't direct you to the download.

Another thing you could try is to restore the computer to before you removed Constant Guard and see if the internet works.
If so, archive the drivers on a USB stick. Then return to the current point in time and install the archived drivers.

restoring to an earlier point is a last resort and may not even be an option. A lot of repairs were done and I don't know if reversing them would be the way but, i really don't know. :/

    Presario cq57-339wm
    I installed sp53753.exe

    Network adapters
    Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
    Realtek RT8188CE 802.11b/g/n Wifi Adapter

    thanks

Now is the perfect time to make a full backup image using Acronis True Image, EaseusToDo, Macrium Reflect, Aomei Backupper or some other backup application; then you're assured of being able to get back atleast to your current state.

EaseusToDo is the one i chose. I backed-up Files and System on a 32gb flashdrive. My aunt has Word and Excel files on the desktop and other places, should they be put is a common location and backed-up again or should I not be concerned about that?

I normally save important files to several different media locations for rapid recovery if needed.

Just tried to do a system restore/renew with the factory restore partition and got a blue screen, three times. This has been the laptop from hell.

    Blue Screen:

    BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
    Technical Info:
    *** STOP: 0x00000074 (0x0000000000000002,0xFFFFF8800396FB20,0x0000000000000002,0xFFFFFFFFC0000022)

I ended up finding the problem. Early in the repair I took a screen shot of lspfix and noticed WindowsLive was missing. After WinLive repaired itself it also fixed the lsp chain. So skrew the restore partition now. I gave my aunt her laptop but I have a backup image of the system now. Thanks
