    I have a Vostro 200 / Windows XP
Not sure if it's age or other, but in the last week everything is moving slower than a snail. Specifically launching any program...whether opening a folder, a document, or chrome browser (this in particular takes forever...text showing up as i enter url, then the url actually processing).

I ran through the Malware removal process and removed a trojan + some PUPS and restarted. Problem still exists.

Please help me before i pull all my hair out!

    Thank you,
    Lee

For starters, see how things work in Safe Mode. Reboot and tap F8 key during boot to take you to the boot options screen. Use the up/down keys to choose "Safe Mode with Networking", then hit Enter. While in Safe Mode, run some of your apps, including your web browser and see if the computer behaves any better. That will help rule out some things.

seems to be moving faster in safe mode

OK, so it's likely a process, service, or driver that autoloads at startup, but I'm not convinced that your system is free of malware. That's something that needs to be ruled out prior to addressing other possible causes. When you say that you went through the malware removal process, what exactly do you mean? Were you attended to in the MG malware forum and then referred to this forum, or did you perhaps follow the DIY directions set forth in the Run Me First Malware Removal Guide? Which programs did you use to scan/clean your system?

    hi,
to be honest, it was about a week ago and i can't find the thread i followed (possibly this site or another, but i can't find the thread that resembles exactly what i read).
i'm at work right now, but off the top of my head, programs included: hijack this, ccleaner, malwarebytes, aswmbr, rogue killer.

i don't assume there's no malware, i just can't find it! so i originally posted in the XP forum and they kicked me back to here to ensure it's not malware.

happy to start over, however you advise.
please know that i'm at work and will pick back up on my home PC after 5pm EST on whatever you advise.

    thanks so much,
    lee

Follow the link provided in my last post and see if those are the guidelines you followed. If not, then follow all of the steps detailed in that particular malware removal guide. The malware related apps that you listed in your last post don't include a dedicated virus scanner. You need to scan your system with a dedicated virus scanner because programs like Malwarebytes Antimalware and SUPERAntispyware focus more on adware/spyware rather than viruses, and as a result have viral detection rates less than 50% (according to various trials). If you don't have an antiviral program installed on your system, you can download one from the MajorGeeks site (includes plenty of freeware apps). http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/sortname/all_in_one_anti_virus_suites.html
