Evil Norton!!

Alright, so I started to have problems with my computer and a few friends majoring in computers fixed it. For the most part! Now.. I can't get my norton antivirus to completely install! It's super irritating and I've gone through all the steps from the website. It gives me NO error code WHATSOEVER. I don't understand.. it just says it is unable to complete..

I've done everything, system scanned, virus scanned, defragmented, installed it without running programs, redefined some things, uninstalled my old anti-virus program.

It always stops on the complete and asks me if I would like to retry.. I click retry and it asks me at least a thousand more times if I want to retry... Any help would be fabulous! If not.. I'm gonna give up and just say screw it and risk the infection!

 

What version of Norton and operating system exactly?

Norton AntiVirus is impossible to thoroughly remove unless you use a utility, and any left over files from a previous installation or attempted installation can prevent you installing it again.

You can get a removal utility and support on this from SYMANTEC.

 

thank you one and all. well, I disabled Norton and installed AntiVir for Windows XP personal edition version 6. tried outgoing email and again, same crap. by the way, if I have an error number will that make a difference when I am trying to solve the problem using Symantec? I haven't tried that yet but will do so now. will let you know

Screw Norton instead. Try Avast, AVG, or AntiVir-they have free plus affordable Pro versions. There is also NOD32, it's not free, but it is the top-rated antivirus.http://majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html

I'm running on Windows XP Home Edition and I am trying to install Norton Anti-virus 2004. I have recently gone to the AVG site cause I'm not gonna play on the internet without having an antivirus program on. I share a computer with my father and he can be an idiot and screw up stuff without realizing it by going to those horrible kind of sites. Moving right along.

I've also already removed it with the Rnav2003.exe utility so that didn't help either.

It actually freezes on retry around the fourth complete area of the install. I dunno if that help but I get absolutely NO error message or anything just that it can't install and if I want to retry. I can retry all I want even to the end but then it just gets stuck on the retry thing. ARGH! I'm starting to get pissed extremely. My next move is get a computer just for MOI!
