Excel Comment Location

Question: In Microsoft Excel 2007, (This also happens in 2003) is there a way to change the location where comment pop-ups appear when you hover your mouse over them? By default, they always appear at the top right of the cell.

Example: I have a Microsoft Excel 2007 spread sheet and one of the cells on the far right edge of the page has a comment. When I hover my mouse over the comment the comment appears on the next page to the right either partially or completely depending on how close the cell with the comment is to the right edge of the page. I want the comment to appear on the same page the cell with the comment is on.

I know that when you edit a comment you can move the comment box around but once you go out of edit mode and hover your mouse over the comment it's no longer in that location. Moving the comment box like I described will affect the location of it when comments are set to "Show". When comments are set to "Show", they are always visible. I need them to only appear when I hover my mouse over them, this happens when comments are set to “hide”

    I attached a picture.

In the picture you’ll see “Example comment 1” this is the default location for any comment when it is set to hide. When a comment is set to “hide” it is only visible when you hover the mouse over the cell with the comment.

I’d like to move the comment box from its default location so that when I hover the mouse over the cell with the comment it appears completely on the page the cell with the comment is on like “Example comment 2” in the picture.

    Thanks.

@ Kestrel13! - Unfortunately none of the information in your link was helpful. I appreciate the reply nonetheless.

I'm assuming it's not possible which completely baffles the mind. Why would Microsoft leave out such simple and obvious functionality? It drives me mad!

I hope someone else can help.

    Thanks again.

Have you found a solution or workaround for this ?
I've been searching the web for weeks ...

My excel 2007 comments appear partially off screen when hovering over the cells in question.
Perhaps this is build-in behaviour for Excel 2007. Can't find anything on moving a comments 'hidden location' for Excel 2010 either.

Unfortunately, I have not found a solution or workaround for this. I've pretty much given up. Sorry, and good luck.

A tilt-wheel mouse, which allows horizontal scrolling of a sheet in Excel, may be helpful in this regard. By horizontally scrolling the sheet, you can bring the Comment into view.
