Excel Error message

I use Excel 2007 and XP Home. I am suddenyl getting this window(attached), and a similar one, when I open and/or close any spreadsheet. Everything opens fine when I click OK. Can I avoid this? Thanks

Nope. Have Adobe 8.0 and it says no updates avalaible. My Symantec is also up to date. Cannot find the pdf files it describes in method 2. Any other thoughts? Thanks

I opened Start clicked on Help and Support and typed your error message exactly and my results are included below.

You were not specific about your set up but it looks like XP Home Office maybe vista ??? I would suggest you search for your resolve as I explained above.


This issue occurs after you install Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1). This issue can occur when you have Universal Translator 2000 installed on your computer.

To resolve this issue, remove Universal Translator 2000 from the XLStart folder, and then delete Ut2000.dot. To do this, follow these steps: 1.Start Windows Explorer.2.Browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart.3.Right-click UT2000, and then press DELETE.

When you receive the message that asks you to confirm the deletion, click Yes.4.Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.5.In the Named box, type ut2000.dot, and then click Find Now.6.Press SHIFT, click each Ut2000.dot file, and then press DELETE.

When you receive the message that asks you to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
