Excel Macros - Authorizing

I (using the term loosely) upgraded to Office 2010. In Excel 2003 I created several workbooks that used a large series of macros to move between sheets and automate tasks. Now that I have the "new and improved" Excel 2010 it WILL NOT let me use the macros. I have gone through the File>Help etc on enabling macros. It tells me I can enable for this session only but then it doesn't do so. How, short of recreating about 3 dozen macros, do I get them to actually run in 2010?

As a sidelight, how 'bout one of you Icon Masters creating one that is tearing its hair out?
