Excel Problem

I have a spreadsheet which is a shared workbook. Recently it keeps exiting by itself and when you go to reopen it open and click on enable macros or disable macros it just closes excel and disappears and nobody can open it again. Nobody has altered the macros at all because it is protected but why the hell would Excel do this. We have to keep getting a back-up version to recover lost work.

 

And does the same spreadsheet give multiple Office installs the same grievance, or is it only a single Excel install that does this?

 

It closes all open Excel files as well but no other MS programs!

If you were to open the same spreadsheet on another computer, does it cause the same problem?

 

Sorry, it happens on all workstations in the building

 

Doe you have the same problem if you were to open it in safe mode?

You can open any Office or Office family program in Office Safe Mode by pressing CTRL while you start the program or by using the /safe option when you start the program from the command line.

The fact that it closes all Excel workbooks and has a macro leads me to think that there might be a excelobject.quit command. If you could cut and paste the macro, we could all have a look....

 

I have tried the file with the macros removed and after a while it has started to do the same and sometimes it quits other Outlook and other office applications as well.
