Have you tried to copy the exe file to a local drive and install?

    yes
all other workstation installs are ok except this one machine.

I would recommend that you check the event logs on the affected machine, and post back with the event ID number, the source, and the exact error description of any errors corresponding to your program crashes. (In the application log)

it is a windows 2000 machine
will there be an event viewer as well?

Yup! The procedure is the same for Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista

An easier way to get to them might be simply to right-click 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'

Here are some more details on using the Windows 2000 event viewer:

    I don't see anything related
to Print Boss in EVent viewer
    any other ideas?

Sorry - I should have mentioned that the errors we are looking for are likely from source: Application Error. Do you have any of these that are close to the same time as your PRINT BOSS failures?

All that I see is a warning repeated around the multiple times of reinstallation
having to do with UPS program
do you think this program for some reason is conflicting with the Print Boss?

    Warning
    Source: MSSQL$UPSWSDBSER
Local computer may not have necesssary registry information or missing DLL files to display messages from remote computer
Follwing info is part of event Error 1355

Is this the only .exe file that causes this problem?

  14. virgo3

yes it is the only exe with the issue

One way to find out if that particular program is causing the issue, is to remove that app, then trying the print boss again.

it is the print boss application causing the issue

I found this on the Wellspring site.
Does the computer that keeps crashing have PeachTree 2003 installed?

No we are using ACCPAC and the program runs on all other workstations without issues
