Explorer 8? Anything to do with Windows 7?

I keep getting a promt on both my laptop and my desk computer to download Internet Explorer 8.
I have Window 7 on the laptop and I finally gave in after all the prompting to go ahead and do it. It is still downloading.
Now on my desk I have Windows XP and wonder if I should just go on ahead and load it in.
What is the difference of all of these things and should I just ahead and download it on the desk 'puter also?

Hi adele, IE8 is more secure so it is probably worth going for it tbh.

The main thing i'd would ask myself is do you like IE8?

(although firefox is wayyyyyy better in my opinion)

You have obviously never had the experience of coming home to find your 12 year old niece installed her cool new browser on your PC (my favourite use every day computer aswell)
