Everytime I open certain folders I get the Ole' "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close" Then it closes amd most of the time it refreshes. Every once in awhile I have to ctrl+alt+del new task "explorer"
Here is a snapshot of the error and the Microsoft report. I have it narrowed down to certain folders with "AVI" Files in them. Also will get the same error with a Flash Drive with an AVI file in it. Help please it has been around 2 weeks now and its driving me nuts! I don't believe there is a virus because I went thru the Malware removal deal. My helper was "Kestrel13". The problem started right around that time maybe before or after don't remember.

I had the exact same problem a while back. It's a codec problem and/or a media player problem. If you have any codec packs installed, uninstall them. Uninstall any media players you have installed also. Then reboot the PC and install only one codec pack. I personally use the KLite Mega Pack as it is very complete and has numerous included features like Media Player Classic (which eliminates the need for a different media player), GSpot Codec Info Tool, and the Codec Tweak Tool (for detecting broken codecs and fixing 'em when possible). Other good codec packs are the Storm Codec Pack and the popular Vista Codec Pack. The Storm pack also includes Media Player Classic, and the Vista pack will run on WinXP/2000 also, but does not include it's own media player. If you chose the Vista pack, you might want to install Media Player Classic to play your media files and CDs/DVDs. VLC Media Player is a great media player that generally doesn't require the installation of any codec packs to open most media files (including DVDs). You can install a codec pack with VLC, but it isn't required.
    Good luck!

(I looked at your screen shot, and it does list the DivX codec as being the cause of the problem; if you have DivX installed, remove all of its components along with all other codecs and media players, reboot, then follow my suggestion above)
