Explorer error in WIN.DLL??

OH boy, lol.. Here's the deal. I restarted my computer last night and I get this error upon start up. "Explorer has caused an error in WIN.DLL".. When I click this it shuts explorer down, and reloads, yet the error comes right back. Explorer is still usable if you leave the error box left unclicked, although it will freeze up on me even still. I dont know what's changed. I dont have McAffe, or Norton. However I have AVG free anti virus, as well another free trojan remover, I found four virus's but they were healed and or deleted. Problem still remains. I've searched and searched adn have found no fix.... I'm Running Win ME, and IE 6 + service pack.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!! .. P.S i have computer knowledge but i'm not an expert.. LOL keep terms pretty simple...

Also, here is another problem i'm having.. maybe someone can help with one or the other..... Internet tools/security options is greyed out.. can't change security level...????? HELP!

Thanks for answering me so fast. Unfortunaly, I've ran ad-aware, and spybot. Nothing.. well something.. but dont take care of this error, I've tried system restore in safe mode, It said something about system restore is not able to protect your computer at this time. Please restart. Which when I do there is no restore points ( from previously disabling to delete a few virus's ). I dont know what else to try.. this is a stubborn little bugger.

Interesting. I googled win.dll and didnt pull that up...

 

I didn't go to google this time because google omits the ( . ) . I didn't recall there ever beinga WIN.DLL in any windows system.. just WIN.COM so I headed to sarc right off the bat

Sounds confusing huh, well the js.seeker sure does sound like what I have , however, I did the virus scan as recommended, no js.seeker. and just incase I went to the regedit to the reccommended keys, and the keys that were listed in "removal". The keys were not present. I dont know if that means I dont have it, or it's listed or represented in another way. Grrrr ...

have you downloaded all the patches and updates recently? did you check your start up for win.dll , did you find the file on your system? did you check msconfig for that loading up? either way, it isn't a system file and it shoud be removed.

 

Well before i posted here, i ran the selective startup. There was a few things that were deleted by removing obsolete items. There is nothing with WIN.DLL, there.. I searched my system for the file, and came up with only AVWIN.DLL, NMASWIN.DLL, . I don't know if that's the file I needed to delete. Would it help to a registry back up?

OH and p.s , i did download all the updates and ran it again.. still nothing

 

win.dll is on your system somewhere. Cant have an exe crash with a modname of a file that doesn't exist.

Did you search subfolders and hidden files?
