Explorer.exe hangs on shutdown

    Running Windows XP Home SP2

    Recently Explorer.exe hangs on shutdown. Explorer seems to work fine during all operations, but at shutdown I get the "End Now" dialogue box. I have to end now or computer will not shutdown even if I let the wait function run through. My guess, something has corrupted it, but how do I fix it.

    Also noticed that screen savers do not initiate in any user profile. Is this related (are screen savers an explorer function?)

    As i know your problem is You do not have enoght of rams, or at the time you shut computer down ther are some running programs that computer system can not force it close. Be sure closing all running programs before shutting computer down
    Chosing display property -> Screen saver and set up it

    One of the main reasons windows wont reboot or shutdown is because a driver is not working as it should. This in turn will prevent the OS from shutting down. Troublesome drivers are normally a modem driver and sound driver. It will pay you to make sure you are using the latest drivers and see if things in prove.     That"s right bazza as invariably as with all problem's that crop up every day you can be sure that with some patience and insight there is nothing that cant be put right albeit at the time it is most annoying and inconvenient to say the least :)
