    i have;
    Acer aspire m1641 (2.6ghz)
    3gb ram
    640gb hdd
    Windows vista (basic i think)

    since about a week ago explorer.exe has been using from about 70% to 100% of the cpu all the time making my computer very slow. i have searched for spyware and viruses using 11 different anti spyware! they found some spyware, i deleted them, but they didn't seem to make a difference. i read somewhere that it could some corrupt .avi files so i went through my videos and deleted ALL of them to make sure, but no cpu still at 100%.

    what should i do next?!? http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/major.gif

    Thankyou but i have sorted out the problem, turns out it was a corrupt .avi file that windows explorer was trying to read! i deleted the file and it all seems to be OK.
