explorer.exe winxp crashing

Hi there,
I´ve been experiencing repeatedly crashes in a freshly built system, I can´t imagine it´s a hardware issue or else I would´t be posting in the software section.

The problem is this, I´m still using emule (that´s right haven´t tried the torrents yet), and... well when I navigate through my system to get to the incoming folder, the mentioned folder opens and when it´s finished opening it crashes, a error found message appears suggesting the action of informing microsoft (you know perfectly well this windows), and saying the application needs to shut down.

At first I thought it was a problem with the view options, since it was set to thumbnails, but I made the icons view option the default and the problem is still there. Also googling it I found that it could be a virus (or malware) but only if the path to explorer.exe wasn´t c:\windows (which in my case is), besides I´ve had AVG-Free installed and up to date from day one.

Any of you guys have experienced a similar problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?
