Help please, when i switch on my pc it goes through the boot up sequence then it says "startin windows" i get to the log on screen and i log on to get an error message "EXPLORER.EXE - Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application. This message appears twice, then i get a blank desk top with no icons, taskbar, egg timer etc, just the mouse arrow. I have tried starting in safe mode and the same appears, i have also tried " last configuration that worked" and still no go. Please help i have no pcs left :'( (post from nickson2)

I found some interesting reading at http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/17796/ This seems to be the same problem your having. Most that are having trouble seem to have downloaded a corrupt video file. Not sure if the article will help, but it's worth a shot.

Hi xflat, sorry if i caused confusion before, it was me nickson2 posting threads on my dads pc using his sign in name (ronnie) cos i couldnt get anything on my pc....anyway decided to try and type sfc /scannow in the task manager and it did summat cos after i rebooted it worked, think it must have had something to do with AVAST and ZONE ALARM, on reboot i proceeded to delete both of these programs then reinstall them, all seems well at the moment. Thanks
