explorer history

is there a reason why my explorer history will not delete even after i go to tools-internet options-delete history then hit ok. it will not go away. am i doing something wrong?

 

try reboting after clearing history that may work

Try another browser. Mozilla Firefox works good and is faster than IE.

 

ski1, have you tried resetting the "Day to keep pages in History" to ZERO, and THEN using the Clear History button?

Another possibility: Drill down to your Windows folder, open that, double-click the History folder, Ctl-a (to select everything in there), and hit Delete.

Might be a good idea then to open IE and try a page or two, before you empty the Recycle Bin. That way, if anything important was in there, you can open the Bin and Restore. My suspicion is that nothing, ever, is important in that History folder -- and it might not even be where IE stores its own History files. I just dunno. But it's worth a try if you're just trying to CLEAR the History records.

All 3 are free, don't conflict with each other, and each finds stuff to delete that the other 2 miss. They will clear up all the crap you accumulate after a net session. Index.dat is also deleted when you reboot.

EmpTemp needs to be run manually. The other 2 need less manual intervention. Use all 3 though. Bazza
