When I close a web page and go back to desktop, the mouse stops working, when I ctrl/alt/delete I get a explorer not responding but it will not end task,I have to reboot. This does not happen every time, but enough to drive me up the wall. I thought it was the mouse, but a new one does the same.Any ideas?

What operating system? Windows 2000? XP? Pro or Home? Something else entirely?

I would check the event logs for further information. Here's how (on NT/2000/XP):

    1. Right-click 'My Computer'
    2. Select 'Manage'
    3. On the 'Computer Management' window, expand 'Event Viewer'

Check the 'Application' and 'System' logs for red x's and/or yellow exclamation marks that correspond to the time of the crashes/freezes. Post back with the event ID number, the event source and the error description.
