I recently downloaded alot of programs from majorgeeks to clean and speed up my pc. I used CCleaner i think to clear unnecessary files, :( but i think they might have been important because my computer is getting an error saying "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown" every time i boot my computer. The error is listed for explorer.exe and when i exit the message box the screen freezes and my screensaver is in the background (No icons or toolbar are present, just the screen). I can't do anything,so i try to reboot and the same thing happens. I don't know how I can fix this and I would greatly appreciate any advice.

When you used ccleaner did you use the program's backup before deleting.

I Also downloaded the windows unofficial service pack last night (I downloaded all these programs last night) and I went to sleep because my computer has dial-up and the download took about three hours. When i woke up this morning my monitor said that webshots didn't have enough memory/I dont know if thats due to all the programs from last night or what. AnywaysI exited webshots and I couldn't find the installer for the service pack/maybe it didn't download properly/i dont know. At the same time i downloaded Anti-Vir Personal edition and ran it this morning.it cleared up some things, and then after it was done is when i ran the CCleaner. After i deleted the unnecessary files, i restarted my pc. Then all the icons and extensions to files said that they were removed or couldn't be opened. I didnt know what was going on so i rebooted again and now the problem is here. I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I thought it would be usefull if u knew more about what is going on.

Win98SE/ I think i might have figure out the problem though/ i went to PC help forum and found a guy with the same problem. The administrator of the website said all he had to do was create a Win startup floppy and put it the pc when it boots up/I'm not sure if I have to have the Win98SE CD also though. This is the link
