Explorer problems

I am having an error message and Explorer shuts down. Help please!

also what OS are you using

 

The message is "file:///crogram % files/sysguarder/warning warnpage.html make sure the path or Internet address is correct. I use Embarq.

 

OS = Operating System

 

Read and Run Me First

I checked part of your error message and it's telling me it may be spyware related. I'm not 100% sure yet.
What virus protection are you using and do you have a anti malware program that may be running, this could explain the message.

 

Oh, Buggabear, I am know little about computers. I have a Dell Desktop Windows XP. Is this what you are asking? Please forgive my stupidity.

You are not stupid it's just most people don't what to post thats why I asked specific questions.
Are you using anti virus software and or anti spyware software.

 

I don't have up to date antivirus. I have Avast installed, but it is out dated. I can't remove it from my control panel.

 

No I don't want you to remove it, I was just checking to see if that message could have come from a anti malware program you may have had on your computer. I would run the read and run me first link and post the logs in the Malware section when you are done, so the malware people can take a look at it. Once you have a clean bill of health and you continue to get that message post back here and someone may be able to help you with the error message you keep getting.
