extended desktop

One feature lost since XP is extended desktop. In XP we could have a scrolling desktop that was larger then our monitor.
The use is for a laptop that has a large monitor at work and uses extended desktop at home to simulate the same monitor. This works very well in XP, but not at all in 7 which is what I want to upgrade to.
When upgrading from XP to 7 how can I re-create the extended desktop?

http://www.gimespace.com/ has some freeware that almost emulates the XP version, it will slide open windows but not the whole desktop.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/goscreen.html is a whole different animal.
Is there a more XP like solution?

 

Talking to yourself is normal but answering yourself repeatedly might start pushing you over the edge of normalcy , or so they say.LOL I adhere to the theory that answering yourself is OK if you don't do it in public.
