External Drive Recycle Bin

Is there a safe way to empty the recycle bin of an external drive without the use of Tree Size or other 3rd party.
I think once I minimized the screen and after selecting the folder I emptied the recycle bin to Windows desktop bin but cannot remember the steps. I have important information in the external drive.

it's funny that such a simple thing would have so many different opinions.

To delete the recycle bin of the external drive = search for ‘disc cleanup’, select specific drive then recycle bin > cleanup; or use Treesize. An awkward way is, once drive is visible, click on upper right(restore down),highlight drive like D, right click on the regular recycle icon and click empty recycle bin.
I prefer the first way as it is easy w/o 3rd party.
