So here's the deal. I own an western digital hard drive. I play movies and TV shows through it on my TV with no problems most of the time.

But with some movies and TV shows, half way through it the sound cuts out and then it ends up stopping.

Even if I rerun that same part, it still does it.

But when I run it on my computer, its fine.

    Any suggestions?

My DirecTV DVR does the same thing at times: The video and sound will get choppy and/or drop out entirely for a few seconds before the program resumes.

This is corrupted data. The question in your case is if the corruption happened during the recording/transfer process or if it is a defect in the drive.

My advice would be to download Western Digital's Data Lifeguard and run a long DST (drive self test) - this may take several hours, so be sure to disable any sleep, hibernate or shut down (main) hard drive options on your PC while the test is running. If the drive fails the long DST, I'd contact Western Digital for a replacement if it is still under warranty.

    Hope this helps. :)
