External Hard Drive troubles!

I have no idea if I just deleted everything I ever saved on my hard drive or not but I can't find anything.

A few months ago, I decided to make more room on my external drive, because it was getting low on memory. Naturally, I have no idea what I am doing and deleted the first thing I saw (the largest) on the option to deleted and make more space. Which were two options but before I did it, I created a restore point on the same external drive. Now, I no longer have an external drive nor anything I had saved on to the external drive. I mean it shows up, but it doesn't show up. Even my restore points are inaccessible.:cry:banghead

I have no idea what to do. And now I have a back door virus (plays commercials on my computer without using a browser) all I hear is noise's.:crybaby:mad

Please can some one help or do I need to scrap my computer and start all over? I am sad and depressed I did that and regret it painfully.:-o I had just gotten some really cool programs and music and movies. And now, poof! all gone.

First, I would scan the external drive to make sure it does not have any viruses. Do not write anything to the external drive. Creating a system restore point is not the same as backing up your files.

Try Minitools Power Data Recovery and scan the drive for your files. It allows the first GB free but you should be able to see if any files are recoverable and if they are corrupt or not. Save any files it finds to your other hard drive.
