External hard drive

I have a problem with my external hard drive. It used to be designated as the F: drive. Now it has been changed to an H: drive without my acting to change it to that. Needless to say I do not know how to change the drive designation. At first there has been no issue with it...all files I have saved on the exteral hard drive are still present. However, I use my external hard drive for downloads. I recently tried to download a program to the external hard drive. It downloaded to the C: drive which is fine. however, when I tried to install the program, it attempted to try to install onto the F: drive, which, as stated previously, used to be my external hard drive, but is now non-existant. How do I change the drive designation on my external hard drive back to the F: drive as I had it originally?

 

Typically, you can right click on my computer, click on Manage to get into computer management. From there, you'll see the Disk Manager, and you can change the drive letters from that point (I don't remember the exact process, but it's pretty easy to do). Hope that helps.
