Hi and Welcome to Majorgeeks :)

Options I would go for are,

    Seagate

the pushbutton version I like as its stackable.

    Western Digital
    http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=232&language=en
The My Book Series ( Essential, Premium and Pro ) the smaller more portable Passport drives only goto capacities of 120GB

    Maxtor

    One Touch III series

External drives add some great portability, with your storage of files as they are easily transported to other PCs, over the internal HDs in which you need to open up your PC for remove/replace.

I find they are superb for creating full backup images of your main Operating System/Installed software drive, incase you have a major crash or malware infestation as dependent on last backup.. restore your PC back to full working order as if you had never had a problem.

I would look at some of the options you will recieve like mine above then use a seach engine to hunt down some reviews of the suggested products.

to start one of the Seagate
