External HDD gone haywire

I've got a 10GB notebook hard drive set up in an external enclosure. I backed up about 7 or 8 GB of stuff on it before erasing everything on my computer and re-installing XP Pro. Now guess what? I can't get the data off my HDD :cry:cry

When I plug the drive up, it recognizes it (even that it's a Hitachi drive) and it's visible in Device Manager. However, it won't show up in My Computer. Apparently this is because the drive, for some reason, is not being assigned a drive letter. Well, I've done a lot of searching, but to no avail.

Here's what it says about my HDD in PartitionMagic. Please tell me if you think I've any chance of getting my stuff off or if my data is lost forever (which would = WTF!). It seems the only option I have is to "Create new partition" from the unallocated space in PartitionMagic. Will this erase what's on there (if it's still there)?

    PartitionMagic says:

Any hope for my poor, innocent little data?

I tried the hard drive on other OSes and PCs, but to no avail.
