Externally connect an Old HD to PC to remove it's files?

Hey there.
I've got a question regarding my old HD drives.
I've got a new computer, But I have several old Hard drive's with old pictures and files etc on them. I want to know if there is anyway to externally connect to those HD's in order to grab everything off of them.
I can't open up my new pc at all as I don't want to lose the warrenty I have on it, and those pesky little "Void if broken" things are plastered all over it.
Would appreciate any help or tips if anyone can provide them. Many thanks.

 

Yup, you can buy the external casing, or housing that external hard drives use.

The trick is finding one that will fit a standard sized HDD. I'm guessing your old HDD is an IDE drive.

I posted 3 examples of such technology. It's quite inexpensive, and it's a viable alternative to buying an entire external HDD unit.

 

I assume they are just the standard HD drive connectors.

So I just need to pick up one of these housings, fix it and that should be enough?

Alternatively, if your new compuer is a desktop or tower, you should be able to hook up the drives as slave drives and copy the information, then remove the drive.

But the external drive options Anger listed will work as well, and an external hard drive enclosure can be very helpfull at times,
