~~EXTREME Compression~~

I need a program(s) that will give me EXTREME compression. Preferably in Windows XP but DOS is an option with relative documentation.

try WinACE. works reletivley well for my. i think what you want is hypercompression. i have only heard of it once before, and not sure what programs support it, but probably worth persuing.

Which is best, WinRAR or Win ACE?

 

The diffrence from ACE and RAR files is really hard to tell. Both are slower then zip and as far as i've seen they will 99.9% of the time compress better then zip. But depending upon what you are compressing RAR and ACE sort of fight it out. I think most of the time ACE will actually beat RAR but even if it does it wins by only a couple KB. So it really doesn't matter. As for speed of compression I think ACE might actually be a bit faster to compress as well. So I guess i'd say your best bet is ACE but then again I still stick to mostly RAR's but I think that has more to do with people knowing what to do with a RAR and not an ACE. I hate explaining how to use a file after I send it to a friend.
