    Hi all

First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone hope its a good one for you's all.

Ok down to business, my old PC is starting to flag a lot these days (its almost 5 years old) so I was thinking of building my own, I've not done this before, but I will be able to get help when needed, anyway, I would like an extreme machine, although I will not be gaming on it, I will be doing video editing and using it for multi media, so would like to have a wireless system, surround sound, wireless speakers etc, I would also want to run the general run of the mill software through it, microsoft office etc, I looked at the latest intel chip the i7 and various cooling systems and would like advice from all you experts out there on what to buy thats compatible to build this machine, it has to be future proof/upgradeable, well at least for a good few years, ideas on the case would be nice, I see there are some futuristic multimedia cases out there, the case would be on display in the living room so please keep that in mind. Any help/advice would be appreciated, thank you in anticipation.

    Regards

    Pozzy

I would give you links to products you can buy but i'm not sure what is your local electrical store..

But still I will give you an idea on what you will need and then you can go buy the parts on ebay, pcworld or wherever..

Well 1st of all you need a case and a PSU, it is up to you wheter you buy a case+psu deal or buy the two seperately. Anyway you should go for an Midi ATX case and go for a decent 500w or higher PSU..

Now moving on the next thing you will need is obviously the motherboard. You need to pick the right motherboard depending on whether your going with a intel or amd processor. From your post I realise your looking for Intel processor. Atm I wouldn't buy Intel i7 processors as they are way too expensive and you would need expensive mobo , expensive ram , etc...
    So I recommend a intel core 2 quad q6600, with 1 core @ 2.4Ghz so a total speed of 9.6Ghz.

Moving onto the RAM you should get something along the lines of corsair 4GB PC6400 800MHz..

next thing you need is a good graphics card..

    I would go for a nvidia geforce 9600GSO 512MB...

Hope I have helped and i'm sure you can work out your self the right monitor, speakers and so on..
