Extremely slow downloads with wireless-G

    Hi again,

I'm currently downloading SpyBot from this website and getting obscenely slow download rates (in the range of 9 KB/s). Now if this was an isolated event, or if it only happened here, I would blame it on the server or mirror, but I can't because this happens whenever I download anything except a regular, inline website. At home I have broadband with a wireless router. My desktop, which is so old it doesn't have built-in Ethernet (I use a PCI card) gets wonderful wired download rates, up by 500 KB/s, and this typically increases as the download progresses. Whereas my one-year-old laptop with built-in Wireless-G typically starts out with download rates around 200 KB/s, which would be fine but it quickly slows down as the download progresses until ten or fifteen seconds in I'm getting 50-60 KB/s, even though it's on the same network as the desktop.

What gets me is that regular websites viewed within Firefox load fine, but this could be because they're usually only several KB and I don't notice the difference. Is this my hardware's fault, Firefox's fault (I use its download manager) or normal for wireless adaptors?
