I've got some strange issues at startup. When I restart windows it takes forever and I sometimes get about 10 items in my system tray. Other times startup takes forever and I only get 4 items in the tray. Other times Norton Ghost gives an unable to start system tray icon error and I only get 3 or 4 items in the tray. Either circumstance, startup takes forever and it almost seems there is a conflict.

I run various spyware/malware scans often and use ccleaner often. I'm almost sure I don't have any virus/spyware/malware issues. I'm more inclined to think I have conflicting software or hardware although nothing shows up in device manager. Anyone know how to troubleshoot these kinds of issues? Thanks.

I would recommend that you follow the instructions in the How To Speed Up Your PC thread. This will show you how to manage your startup items and achieve quicker boot times.

To speed up your system startup, you should try Microsoft BootVis. I've personally used it, and it cut my startup time in half.
