Been trying to install EZ CD Creator 5 into my XP home system without much luck, I have heard that the EZ CD version 6 platium will work, just wondering if I need to buy all that just to do what version 5 did, they offer a Basic version 6 and I'm wondering if that would be close to version 5?
Reason I ask, is the basic is $15 and the platium is about $80.
Hope this made at least a little sense, thanks for any help

If you read in some of the threads, you will find most of us are anti Easy CD Creator when there are superior products, like Nero. East CD is a system hog and many of us have problems with it writing, recognizing CDROM drives, etc. Your problem installing 5 is just another example of problems.

If you DO upgrade, be sure they send you the FULL version 6 and not an upgrade as you cant upgrade what you cant install :)

If you want, try Nero in our Back Up section, I think you will like it.

    Whatever you do

do not spend the money on that easy cd dvd 6 program. the damn thing for some reason screwup my computer to the point that I had to install everything again. I became wiser and I made a back up of my system (first time ever). now that being said. I did not learn my lesson and like a fool tried the program again. Guess what the software did it again. luckily I had a back up of my system and it only took me 45 minutes to get back to normal as opossed to almost 2 days like the last time. . Like everybody else tells you Nero is the way to go.
For some reason Easy Cd cannot recognize some cd burners go figure

    forgot to mention

version 5 will not work on your system unless you download the update from roxios website. Xp even lets you know that that software is not compatible with that version of windows. But if you download the update you will be able to use it under xp
You have to register with Roxio before downloading any updates but if you really want that software to work then download the update and install it

    Thanks for the replies.
Having troubles getting this reply to post, hopefully this one will work, sorry if more than one show up.
The reason I use EZ, is it has a volume balancing feature that I like, I can record different songs and not had to deal with one song being louder than the others.
EZ 5 seemed to work ok (some minor probs) on the Win 98sec system I had, now I have a new computer and Win XP Home, its been a disaster.
I'm trying to keep the auto balancing feature and Nero doesn't seem to have this???
Anybody know of other programs that might?
I use EZ for mostly recording from the net, records, or reel to reel tapes onto CD's.
Once again, thks for the help.

EZCD 6 works ok with XP unlike version 5 which even when patched to work with XP still only worked on some and not on others!

I have EZCD6 and NERO6 installed at present both work very well, but I do use Nero more ;)

one thing I would try is to disable XPs built in CD copying software as it is a lite form or EZCD from Roxio.

goto Services and disable IMAPI CD burning COM service.

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

I had EZCD5 on XP, and with the patches, I got it to running OK, but I recently grabbed an OEM copy of Nero6 from MG's shopping site for 13 bucks (!) Full program, fully functional, just no box or paper manual (PDF manuals are built in). MUCH better program than EZCD5, and is fully functional, unlike the "standard" version of EZ. One heck of a deal.

Maximum PC just reviewed Nero6 with EZ6, and gave the nod just barely to EZCD... this time.... but compared to EZ5, Nero6 is much better.

    EZ 6

Thanks much, checked with Nero and they have the volume feature I was looking for, they call it "normilize" or something like that.
I have picked up Nero 6 ultra and will give it a try this weekend.

Disabling the IMAPI should help??? Whats it do?

Thanks to all, the Nero program looks pretty nice and was a lot cheaper.

    Re: EZ 6

IMAPI is Windows XP's built-in CD burning software. It is very minimal in what it can do. Basically a token job. However, it runs as a background service, and you don't want two burning programs to be running at the same time. It can cause conflicts that result in CDs not burning right and whatnot.

To disable the service, go Start -> Run -> services.msc . A window opens. In right pane, scroll down to IMAPI, right click it, and choose properties. Change the Startup type dropdown menu to Disabled, and then click the Stop button. Click OK. The service is now disabled.

    EZ vs Nero

OK, I tried Nero for a bit and thought it was pretty nice, no better than EZ 5 (for my uses) but I liked EZ 5, so thats a compliment.
I did run into a problem with MP3 's and the fact Nero wants you to buy a plug in to do more than 30 of them, sounds like a rip off to me, it should of come with it.
Anyway, I got EZ 6 for my birthday and it looks like I'm gonna try that..... being the wife gave it to me, I have to :)
I will back up my system, just in case and I disabled IMAPI.
Any other tips you might have?
Oh, I did delete the Nero demo program.

Thanks for all the help, and I'll keep ya posted on how it works.
