EZCool PSUs?

Anyone had any experience with EZCool PSUs at all? Are they any good, as I have heard some scare stories recently.

I look for power supply brands listed under the "Good" column of PC Mechanic's PSU Reference List. Since EZCools are not listed at all, I would avoid them.

I would also advise to avoid trying to save money by getting a cheap PSU. I like to put it this way - would you put cheap, generic fuel in your new Porsche? Well, you might, but would you expect it to run at peak performance? An engine can miss a beat and keep running - not so with digital electronics.

Sadly, many folks do cut corners and buy a cheap PSU. Or often, case retailers toss in a cheap PSU to make the sale. Don't let that deter you from buying a good case - just toss out the PSU and get a good one. Chances are, if it fails, it will not take out everything plugged into it.

Finally, as a long time technician, I am always amazed how easily people (even many of my IT colleagues) forget that anything that plugs into the wall can kill! (speaking of scary stories). They also forget that many of these no-name, off-brand, generics were made in Chinese slave labor factories run by unscrupulous managers, often using untrained underaged workers :cry under the direct supervision of corrupt government officials.:mad :major

Get a good PSU from a major brand. You have a much better chance the product will perform as expected and provide good "clean" stable power for years to come, safely.
