This morning windows update ran on my puter and now it will not boot into XP pro at all. I get an msvcrt.dll error where the normal login screen should be. I was just shutting it down in order to move it to another area in my office. It will not boot into safe mode or recover or anything. We've replaced the dll by booting on the windows ultimate boot cd but still get the same error. We also get a _flol_ error of some sort that has to do with the msvcrt error. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    1) Disk check the HDD.

Is there a chance that your boot sector of your HDD is going bad? How old is the HDD?

If you can post exactly what this _flol_ error is, it should be helpful.

OK I got it sorted out. I downloaded ERD system tools and it allowed me to boot on it and restore. Now I'm good to go.
