facebook buttons

few related (?) questions:

1) i'm on dialup, and facebook "buttons" rarely react. like "send request" after filling in a capchar -- just doesn't "take". in fact, the original "add friend" button up top works far less than the redundant LINK in the text an inch below.

i get "error on page" down in my status bar a lot, but the correlation is not 100%.

obviously, pages don't fill out as fast, etc., since i'm on dialup, but why do buttons (usually) go flat-out DEAD. are they on some sort of timeout clock?

2) "messages" and "notifications" buttons up top take FOREVER to expand. like 2-3 mins sometimes! for a tiny little amount of text!! far far quicker to find the messages link down on the left. not so sure abt notifications.

3) facebook "help" boards have no "add thread" or "reply" boxes today! even for a thread that i was heavily contributing to already.

oddly enuf, there was ONE board that had a post field, but i dunno where my post ended up afterwards. and there was no "Subject" box even when it took the query.

rly getting FED UP with this site! how can any software be so screwed up that it can't handle a basic SINGLE-CLICK (as in #1 and #2) ?!?!?!

 

I GIVE UP! last time i asked abt facebook in software u moved it to the lounge! in fact, someone even STATED "what does this have to do with software?"

so this time i comply, and BACK it goes!

May I ask what browser you are using?

 

1.) facebook has well known loading and slowdown issues
2.) dialup makes it 1000x more noticeable.

I think it might be time to upgrade?

 

i'm using IE8, altho i have FF and others (opera, chrome, safari) at my avail.

are any of them better suited to FB? my experience has been that they're even WORSE with stuff like this.

i honestly can't even ADD people today. my choices are: give up or load up PC and go somewhere i can use wifi (library, starbucks, etc).

i do that sometime when i have massive downloads to do, but for a lousy "click"?! one lousy single-click?!

OK, i had some time to play with this, and FF actually IS better.

waaaaaaaaaaay more painful for the general "filling out" of the page, but on this particular button/link issue, it does proceed smoothly where IE does not.
