Facebook Lockout

after a buttload of wifi probs (addressed in other thread), and a transition week using starbucks' hotspots, i ended up getting a new and improved laptop. which is nice, but now i am spending hours and hours trying to recall various PASSWORDS, none of which i've had to type in several years!! (autocomplete/autologin)

well, as you can imagine, i've entered like 20 wrong passwords apiece to these accounts. FINALLY i got in to 3 of my emails and 1 of my FBs (lesser one), but the main one i use day to day has now locked me out. it wasn't just the PWs, but also the fact that i'm accessing from "someplace new" and from "a new machine" (even telling me brand/model of my old PC!!).

i did the usual "reset PW"/"email code" stuff -- seems to accept that i am now me, but still defaults to an "acct locked" screen, the cure for which includes SENDING GOVT ID.

first off, um...NO.

secondly, didn't facebook DROP their "real name" policy like 14 years ago? what kind of ID are they looking for to confirm someone is "hotgrrrl67"?!

is there some way around this? do these lockouts ever expire? my impression right now is that this is permanent!

(not quite sure how i squeaked by on that OTHER acct, btw. same location and machine issues. maybe one less bad PW attempted, that's all i can think of.)

I noticed that too. I sometimes create a new account to see if I got blocked, but then after I click the verification link, it gets disabled right away.

 

what do u mean, blocked as in your DNS flagged?

i haven't even gotten to that. i have several other accts -- still functioning -- and was assuming i could make a new one to replace the locked one as well. i am not (at present) concerned about being locked out of FB wholesale (as i have experienced on occasion with boards like MG).

but a new ID means i'll lose all the MESSAGE HISTORIES and everyone in my friendlist whose "name" i don't know from memory (i.e. to refind and friend from new ID). that's all.

 

I meant, when a user did. I cannot check with the same profile.

I think people slander me so I cannot be an extra in local films. It happened before.
